Beverly J. McIver, Professional Artist, is a 1987 graduate of NCCU from
Greensboro will be featured in "FACING SOUTH: PORTRAITS BY NORTH
CAROLINA ARTIST' EXHIBIT, Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Green Hill
Center for North Carolina Art, Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 North
Davie Street. Beverly will discuss her portraits between 3-5 PM. There
will be a reception following her presentation. Beverly is one of our
Sheroes having come from a very humble and meager beginning in
Morningside Homes, she is a role model for every young child,
especially Black children.
She is a symbol of the saying that "you can be and do anything you desire
to be" if you focus and work hard keeping your eyes on the prize. After
graduation from North Carolina Central, McIver went on to Penn State
University and received a Masters In Art. She is a Professor of Art at
Arizona State University and will be on leave during the ensuing school
year to teach at NCCU. I invite all alums to come out Sunday and wel-
come Beverly back home.
You may find out more about her by going to www.greenhillcenter.org
Website or see Beverly's story in Section D (Life) in the Tuesday,
May 13, 2008edition of the News and Record.
